The following views show winter wheat and plowed fields near Enid, Oklahoma in late March. All images © J.S. Aber.

The 1997 view below was taken during a dry period in which red soil color is quite distinctive. Note contrast between soil in plowed field and bright green of winter wheat.

1998 view of same area following an El Niño winter of repeated snow and rain. Bare soil has a mottled brown color due to high moisture content.
