Chapter IV

CONSTRUCTION 1923-1926

In spite of costly changes necessitated by geologic requirements and expensive delays caused by strikes, the Cornerstone Laying, Novemeber 9, 1924, was another day of pageantry and civic pride for Kansas City. Two years later the Memorial without its sculptural frieze and finished setting was dedicated "to its high purpose" by President Calvin Coolidge, Novemeber 11, 1926.
